WHERE WE WORK
Wheatland Construction — Veterans Approved • Family-Owned Since 2018
(316) 322-7898El Dorado is home. Wheatland Construction's office is located at 838 SW Purity Springs Rd (Suite C) in El Dorado — Butler County's county seat is our home base, and El Dorado homeowners get the most direct service we offer.
El Dorado has roughly 13,000 residents and a housing stock that reflects more than a century of residential development. The neighborhoods near downtown along Central Avenue and Vine Street have early 20th century Craftsman and Victorian homes. The mid-century residential corridors on the north and south edges of town are full of 1950s through 1970s ranches and two-stories. The newer subdivisions east of US-77 and on the south edge near Towanda Avenue have 1990s through 2010s construction that's approaching its first major renovation cycle.
We're a Veterans Approved Builder (ID: 00899), Home Advisor Certified since 2019, family-owned and faith-forward since 2018. El Dorado is where we permit, where we know the building inspectors by name, and where we're most invested in the quality of what we leave behind.
El Dorado has active residential development in the newer subdivisions on the east and south edges of town, along with infill lots in established neighborhoods. We build custom homes in El Dorado from foundation through finish — handling City of El Dorado permits and all construction directly. Our proximity to the permit office means faster turnaround on inspections. See Custom Home Building in El Dorado →
El Dorado's mid-century ranches on the established residential corridors — Haverhill, High, Central — often have modest square footage that families have outgrown. Room additions, master bedroom expansions, and garage additions are among our most common El Dorado projects. See Home Additions in El Dorado →
El Dorado has a wide range of basement types — full-depth poured-concrete basements in newer subdivisions, block basements in mid-century ranches, and the occasional storm cellar in older properties. We assess every El Dorado basement for moisture and structural condition before framing. The Butler County clay-loam soil profile creates seasonal moisture pressure, and we address it properly. El Dorado's century-old historic homes near downtown have original cast-iron plumbing and early-20th century finishes with real character — and real infrastructure challenges. Its mid-century ranches have 1950s and 1960s bathrooms due for complete replacement. Newer homes have builder-grade bathrooms from the 1990s and 2000s at end of life. We remodel all of them. See Bathroom Remodeling in El Dorado →
El Dorado's varied housing stock means kitchen remodels span the full range — from narrow original layouts in 1920s Craftsman homes to large 1990s kitchens with dated materials. We handle the full scope: layout reconfiguration where needed, cabinets, countertops, tile, lighting, and fixtures. See Kitchen Remodeling in El Dorado →
El Dorado's older historic housing stock — particularly the pre-1950 homes near downtown — represents some of the most demanding comprehensive renovation work we do. Original knob-and-tube wiring, cast-iron plumbing, plaster walls, and original wood framing all require careful handling. We have experience in El Dorado's historic housing and we know how to renovate it properly. See Major Remodels in El Dorado →
El Dorado and Butler County see significant spring hail and wind activity. We install roofing systems appropriate for Kansas storm exposure — and because we're Butler County based, our response time after storm events is faster than contractors driving out from Wichita. See Roofing in El Dorado →
All residential construction within El Dorado city limits permits through the City of El Dorado. Our proximity means faster permit turnaround, more efficient inspection scheduling, and quicker resolution of any permit questions that come up during a project.
We live and work here. El Dorado projects get our most direct attention — our reputation is built here, and we intend to keep it. Written estimates, our own crews, no hidden charges.
