El Dorado is where Wheatland Construction is headquartered, and we've built and remodeled more kitchens here than anywhere else in our service area. We know El Dorado's housing stock the way you know your own neighborhood — the oil-era homes near the refinery corridors built when Butler County was at the peak of the Kansas oil boom, the post-war ranch expansion along Central and Main, the mid-century builds throughout the city, and the newer construction east toward the lake. Each area has its own kitchen story.
El Dorado's kitchens span nearly a century of design. A 1940s home near downtown has a completely different kitchen than a 1985 ranch east of town — different construction, different materials, different problems, and a different approach to the remodel. We don't apply a template. We look at what you have and figure out what it actually needs.
We're a Veterans Approved Builder (ID: 00899), Home Advisor Certified since 2019, and Butler County based since 2018. El Dorado is home — we'll do this right.
El Dorado Kitchen Remodeling by Neighborhood and Era
Oil-era homes near downtown (1910s–1940s): These kitchens were built for a different century of cooking. Small, galley-style, often with original steel cabinets or early wood construction that's been painted and repainted. Plumbing in these homes sometimes still has original galvanized pipe or early copper at pressure-fitting connections that are worth addressing during a remodel. We assess before pricing and won't chase hidden problems after demo starts.
Post-war expansion (1950s–1960s) along Central and Main corridors: The classic mid-century Kansas ranch kitchen — closed off from the dining room, functional but not generous. Open-concept conversions are the most common project in this vintage. Remove the wall or open it up, add an island, update the cabinets and countertops, install a proper ventilation hood. These kitchens transform dramatically and it shows immediately.
1970s–1990s expansion throughout El Dorado: Larger footprints, often with eat-in kitchen space already, but materials at end of life — laminate countertops, particle-board cabinets, original appliances. Mid-range refreshes work well here when the layout is sound.
Newer builds east toward El Dorado Lake: 2000s–2010s construction with builder kitchens that look dated or are starting to show wear. Material upgrades and targeted improvements rather than full guts.
What We Build in El Dorado Kitchens
- Full gut renovations for older oil-era and mid-century homes — complete layout reconfiguration, plumbing update, electrical assessment, custom or semi-custom cabinetry, quartz or granite countertops
- Open-concept conversions — structural assessment, wall removal, LVL beam installation if required, City of El Dorado permit, coordinated flooring
- Mid-range refreshes — cabinet replacement, countertop upgrade, backsplash, lighting, fixture updates
- Range hood ventilation — proper exterior venting installed or improved, critical in older El Dorado homes where original ventilation was never adequate
